Florida without pictures

Sorry, I don't have pictures yet. I have to be on a different computer, but here is a little about our trip.

We had a good first flight, (we had a layover in GA each way). we got into Atlanta with just enough time to get some dinner. Our second flight was supposed to leave at 6:53 pm but when we got there it was delayed until 7:10 which I read as 7:somethinglaterthan10. I remember thinking "ok, if we get back here by 7:00 we will have abut 20-25 minutes before we takeoff. WRONG. We went to eat and got to the gate at, literally, 7:01. The gate was closed (10 min. prior to takeoff) and I was about to have a breakdown. They said they could get us on another flight at 8:00. not too bad. One major breakdown avoided. Ava was great on the planes. People around us were rolling their eyes as we got on and complimenting us on our way out. way to go Av.

My parents picked us up in a relatively small car. Not too bad if I hadn't brought my running stroller for the beach. We had to lean the back bench forward and hunch over for a while but we made it to the condo in one piece.

Everything was pretty normal vacation stuff. I was really tired the first few days which was a good time to be that way because the weather was pretty bad until Wed. Actually Sunday was nice, we went to the Haney's church for Easter and then we went down to the beach that afternoon. Then came the rain. Wed. was nice and I got a burn on my feet, and the front of my shoulders. Thankfully being pregnant kept me from scorching both sides of my body. Mike was looking good the whole time and Ava was too. No burns, yeah!

So here's the circus that we experienced. My parents room was done on Saturday, we had a flight for Sunday that was just cheaper so we had a hotel set up for sat. night. My parents sat. flight was really early so we took a cab to our hotel at 10:00am. we requested early check in but didn't get it because they were full. we knew that might happen so we were prepared to hang out at the pool until our 3:00 check in. the pool was being resurfaced. we walked to a mall (they held our luggage for us). it was a nice mall and we got back in time to check-in but they didn't get us checked in until 4:00!!

About 5 min after we finally got into our room housekeeping came to clean it. NICE!

later that night we went to eat at crabby bills, they have a shuttle that will take you. We called after we ate for a pickup and the lady said 20-25 min. We know that sometimes we might have a delay for the shuttle so we were fine with it, but we waited for an hour and a half before someone came. Mike called after 30 min. to make sure they were still coming and they said yes. so we waited...and called again...and waited...finally they came. I think if they would've even said an hour and a half we would've been ok but thinking they were going to be there in 20 min. we waited on a curb the whole time to avoid being left.

when we got back we realized that there was no tub to give Ava a much needed bath. We were in a handicapped room. We requested a new room but they were full. So no bath for Ava. The next morning we were taking showers and realized that the shower head, which came off the wall to help the handicap, was dangling because the connector to the wall was broken. So our showers were either hold it above your head or have it hang at your feet. The table that comes down for the handicap to sit on was broken so it wouldn't fold up and stay up. which meant we had about 2 sq. ft to try and shower in. There was no edge to the shower so the floor was soaked. what a fiasco.

about an hour before we left the toilet backed up. we just shut the door and took a nap. I had already called the corporate office to complain.

We flew to GA again and our flight was delayed because of weather. Then they offered a bump for four round trip tickets, free meal vouchers and a hotel stay if we would go the next morning at 9:20am. We took it. The hotel was great, the free meal was great. We got home Monday at about 11:30am with a pretty good outlook for our next vacation.

Yesterday the DoubleTree called me back and gave us a full refund for the visit from...you know. SO...it was a good trip, with a long ending, but a good ending overall...4 free round trips, two free dinners and two free hotel stays.

pictures to come shortly I hope.
