ladies night out

Last night we went to Greenfield Village for the Holiday nights. It was all the Tally ladies that could brave the cold...Gramma Tally, Aunt Claudia, Aunt Elaine, Laura, my Mom, Christina and I. We had so much fun! We started off at about 6:30 at Aunt Claudia's house.

Here we are ready to go...no hats for us. We were totally warm the whole time but I may wear gloves next year just to keep my mom and gramma from offering me their extras 20 times.

So we all piled into my mom's car for some reason and rode four in the back seat.

Christina was on aunt Claudia's lap and they were cracking up thinking about what to tell a cop if we got pulled over. I don't know why it popped into my head but I said, "just tell them you are Siamese twins." We were wheezing and then decided to take a picture of them outside the car. so.....

here are our Siamese twins. I don't have any pictures of it but as soon as we got inside the gate we decided to sing. We stood together and got near the edge of the sidewalk. People were coming like crazy. We sang we wish you a merry Christmas at the top of our lungs. My sister may put it on her blog so you will have to check it out there.

Gramma Tally and I in front of some wreath stand.

Hatless and plenty warm.

Mom and I in front of the church.

Laura and I in front of the church.

All of us in front of the church. Christina gave her camera to this older guy who couldn't figure out how to work it. I gave mine to some other guy in the same group and he was able to take three or four in the same amount of time. The old guy kept coming into the picture to show Chris stuff on her camera and the younger guy with my camera was like, "dad get out of the picture." Finally we got the camera's back and we were on our way.

Laura went to get some goodies for us...she got loaded down with treats. While she was gone getting the treats Christina took a bathroom break. After a few seconds Aunt Claudia and I realized that we had to go too. So we went into the bathroom and there was no line. One stall was clearly open so Aunt Claudia went in...the other one was questionable so I lightly tapped the door to see if it was open. It opened a little so I pushed it and someone said, "hey!" I said sorry and then the voice said, "NICOLE, you idiot!" It was Christina in there. Funny b/c I was thinking (when the door opened and someone said hey) some kid doesn't know how to lock the door in there. Funny.

Digging in to the treats.

Just look at the joy on those faces.

COOKIE!!!

This guy did a great dramatic interpretation of the night before Christmas. He himself was a little scary looking and haunted my dreams.

Christina and I by the Michigan applewood (I think).

Kentucky girls by the Kentucky wood.

Tulip Poplar

Me, Laura, Christina and Baby H by the chimney sweep. He was friendly enough.

Lookin' good as always!

They had a Santa stationed on a balcony with a spotlight on him. He was waving at all the kids below and saying random names as if he knew the kids. There were two reindeer in a pin down by the crowd. It was pretty cool. I had several urges to tell small children that Santa is a lie but I did not. They will know soon enough!!!

Christmas dinner set up at one of the old houses.

Dancing to some bagpipe like music...I think they were actually playing some flute things but it sounded very bagpipey.

I asked everyone to snow angel it up with me but only Laura would...what a nice girl.

Snack break 2

eating it up

This guy was giving a speech outside one of the houses. He did a fabulous job...with an accent! (it was real...I asked him).

Waiting to get into the building that the guy was giving a speech in front of.

Couldn't get laura to stop talking and closing her eyes...I have two of these with Laura eyes closed and two with her mid-sentence.

A jeep for us to pose in front of.

The rest of them...gramma is behind there...Christina got a pic of her...she got inside and pretended to steal it.

We saw this group of 'soldiers' standing there so we decided to go get a pic of us three cousins with them. Right before we took the pic, we were all saluting, and Laura and I got hats put on our heads. We loved it. Such a fun time we had.

There were some singers in this gazebo. Gramma Tally took our picture.

Then we went to the covered bridge to get some pics. Chris got to be the center b/c you probably shouldn't lay on your belly on the edge of a bridge when you have a little girl in there!!! So after that we walked down and if you have been to the village much you may know those bathrooms down by the bridge. Aunt Claudia and Laura and I went fairly quickly and were waiting outside for the rest of our crew. We were just talking and we saw the three singers walking by...hmmmm...
Aunt Claudia said, "I bet their microphones are still up there." Laura and I were ready to go. The three of us got over there as quickly as possible and by then the rest of the girls were right with us...

with microphones still on we belted out grandma got run over by a reindeer. It was pretty hilarious. Christina got it on video...hopefully she will put that on her blog and you can check it out with the other video.

Aunt Elaine and I warming by the fire and the crazy worker lady who thinks that wool doesn't burn.

Regular pic and....

And I must say my aunt elaine is hysterical...you don't get to see that much with her married to Uncle Paul but when its just us gals she will keep you laughin'. I would have passed on the night out with any other group but I knew I would have fun with these girls.
