Shut-up Buck!

So, on Saturday, MIke and I were painting and doing stuff around the house which was better done without Ava. So we had my mom and dad watch her during the day. That night we met them at christina and Nathans for pizza. When we got there they said that Ava was swearing. They weren't sure what she was saying but they were pretty sure it was swearing. She kept saying something which we figured out was, "shut-up Buck" Mike and I had been watching the movie Uncle Buck several weeks ago and when She heard Buck's girlfriend say that on the TV she went around that day saying, "shut-up buck, shut-up buck" We thought she had forgotten it but apparently not. Usually there is one parent that really cracks down on words that almost all adults say but don't want the kids to say, Mike and I just crack up. I think I would rather Ava say some of those words as opposed to her being the kid who tells other people not to say them. I guess it would be ideal if she didn't say them and didn't boss people about them. Well, whatever side we fall on for each of the "bad" words, one thing is for sure, if she tells an adult what they are not allowed to say, she will get it.

Just for the record...Nathan was the one who thought she was swearing. She never uttered those words at our house. Nathan just seems to bring out the worst in some people.

Once upon a time I taught my 2-year-old brother to say "pain in the butt." Oh the things I could teach Ava . . . .

Oh wait, I have kids now. And retribution will be given to me at least 3-fold!!! ;-)

Yeah, you know that Mike would teach those kids all kinds of things. "Butt" doesn't even come close.
