No, I haven't had the baby yet...but I was thinking today about my hospital stay with Ava. It was great. I couldn't have asked for a better delivery. I loved my doctor, nurses, rooms, bathroom/shower, food...anything you could think of went great. I delivered her in Kentucky and the one thing I was most disappointed about with being pregnant here was that I couldn't stay with my doctor. I even had the fleeting thought that I would drive down there for my apts. and the stay with friends for the last month so I could deliver at my hospital. Obviously not realistic, but I can dream.
I now have a new doctor that I really like...but I have obviously never delivered a baby at this hospital. I have been to South Shore for non-stress tests and one emergency visit...but I don't know how it will go.
SO.....
if any of you newer moms have delivered at Southshore give me your suggestions. Not the stuff that you need to know at any hospital but stuff like...how's the food, anything I should ask for, anything you really liked or think you would avoid next time? Ok, well, I hope I get some good info. I hope I get to use it sooner than later too! =)

i had stelly at oakwood main so i can't speak for myself, but i know charisse really liked southshore. the one bad part is that it's under construction (at least it was at the end of april)and makes the parking lot kind of crazy (just for you to warn your visitors). also, i know since it's smaller she thought she got really good attention from the nurses. as you prob know they actually have an OB who sleeps there (isn't just "on call" like at some hospitals) every night too. that made her feel good just in case her Dr couldn't get there in time. oddly enough (since we both love food) i don't remember her comments about the food. the labor and delivery rooms are really nice and big and have nice bathroom/showers in them. you probably know that at southshore you move out of the l/d room into a reg room after delivery (as opposed to some where you stay in the l/d room the whole time you're there). the reg room/bathroom/shower was fine too - pretty standard. can't wait to see ava's little sister! :)
I don't know anything about your hospitals, but I just wanted to tell ya, I hope your delivery goes great!! Jonas and I will be praying for you! Yahoo for sisters!

Erica,
thanks for the info!!! I actually have gone down there for a test and the construction is still going on but I haven't found it to crazy. while I was there I asked them to see the l/d room and they were being used!!! So needless to say I didn't get to check them out.
Heather,
Thanks, I know sisters will be so cute...Ava acts pretty excited but I don't think she gets it. She will SOON!!!!!!
I don't know your area, but I now live in Kentucky and am due in September. Do you mind telling me who your doctor was and what hosital you delivered at?
Kelly,
I am not sure where you are...I'm assuming you are near Louisville or maybe you are just hoping I lived near where you live now...either way...I was in Louisville where there are lots of options. I know Katie Bruno delivered at Baptist East (I think its called). Just incase you wanted another opinion.
I delivered at Norton Suburban. I went to Total Woman as my OB/GYN. They are an office of all female doctors. I saw Dr. Girard but I'm pretty sure she isn't there anymore. I had 3 friends who also have gone to that office and really seemed to like it. When I was in KY there were 9 doctors there so...lots of options in that office.
When I first started with that Dr. the office was seperate from the hospital but when I delivered their office had actually moved to the 2nd floor (i think) of the hospital...that was nice b/c if you are at an apt. and they are at all concerned about something...you're right there. My doctor also said that they have a level 3 nic unit...like I know what that means...but i guess its good to have, you can check that out.
Like I said in my post...I really liked my Dr's office and the delivery/hospital was really nice.
Kelly,
If you are near there and have anymore questions let me know. I will let you know whatever I can remember! =)
Thanks for the info. I guess I should have told you who I was and where I am. I remember you from NBBC, but you may not remember me. I now live in Louisville where my husband goes to seminary. I see Dr. Graham (who I LOVE) but I can choose between Norton Suburban and Baptist East to deliver. It seems like a lot of people choose NS because of the NIC unit. We'll see. Thanks again.
