Ava talk

Ava has been talking a lot lately. Here are a few things that have been cracking me up or impressing me.

It's funny when you know they are thinking...Ava was in the bathroom getting ready for nap and she said, "look momma, I'm a turtle. This is my shell."

The other night we were at Mike's parents house. After dinner she got an Oreo. She was walking into the family room and dropped it. She bent over to pick it up and said, "oh, snap!"

She is usually 'on the phone' with Daddy but every once in a while she will pick someone else. The last few days it has been all uncle Paul. I had a little trouble at first b/c she has two uncle Paul's and we have seen both recently. In the end it was uncle Paul tally on the phone. Here is her end of one conversation:
"Hello"
"Hey uncle Paul what you doing?"
"you at work with daddy?"
"Ha ha ha"
"member when we sang happy birthday?....at you house?....member?"
"Ok, see ya!"

Today Claire is over. Claire had a ribbon that she was 'wrapping a present' with. Ava really wanted to have it so she asked, "Claire, can I have that please?" Claire politely said, "No." Ava tipped her chin down and looked at her with raised eyebrows and said in a low voice, "Claaaiire, please give that to me." I then had to go over how asking for at toy when someone is playing with it is pretty rude.

In a similar situation =), last night Claire was here and Ava had something she wanted. We weren't there but Ava came down and told us this little story, keep in mind that most of these phrases, except the last, end with her voice going up,
"I was upstairs, and Claire asked me for my toy, and I said no, and then she was crying." Looks like today was a little revenge!
This was actually aunt Chrissy on the phone. I know she has two of all kinds of people so when she tells me it is uncle paul or aunt k/ch riss i/y I repeat it with an and, for example, I will say, "Aunt Chrissy and..." and Ava fills in the blank for me, giving away which one she is talking to/about. So today it was "Aunt Chrissy and..." "Connor!"

Still chatting with her aunt.

Aaah

She had these cute rosy cheeks this morning.

'this is my shell...' that kid's imagination is amazing. she is such a crack up.
i love liela's cheeks!!!! i just need to eat 'em! she's finally getting past the "baby lump" stage. by thanksgiving she'll be so much fun. you know how i am with baby-babies... laura said it on sunday, "they still break."
today connor was playing with his pirate ship and he was desperately searching for the little people girl he named ava. i guess she had to go on the voyage. he was getting all upset, "i need my ava. i need my ava, momma!" it was so cute. we found her under the changing table swimming in the "pool" (you know those stackable rings)

I know, her imagination cracks me up...the thing that made me really laugh was "oh snap" where does she get that?
I totally agree with the baby thing. I do like babies but I don't LOVE to play with the really new ones. I always feel awkward when someone has a baby and I feel like they want me to hold it, I normally really don't want to. Except for a few people, like you...I wanted to hold Connor, just once and then I was good until he was older.

i know.... i haven't even held li that much. i think i always wanted to hold av b/c she was the first baby. poor liela. :( she gets the brunt of my 'not-really-a-baby-person' personality.

do you even say 'oh snap'? or does mike maybe? i would love to hear her say that. connor has been saying, "oh, man."
