big words and christmas trees

When I had Liela my friend Beth gave me all kinds of stuff. Food, diapers, toys for Ava, TONS of stuff...so nice of her. HOWEVER, one of the toys was this annoying wand. It sometimes makes its 'magical' noise even when no one is playing with it.
Yesterday morning Ava was laying on the floor drawing. It was going off and she finally got up to move it and said, "This is irritating me."

Today we went to the church to help mike put up some Christmas lights in the youth group room. It was alright but its always hard to get lights up inside. After I left I called Mike to see how he was doing. In the conversations I said to him, "ok, I just don't want you to get frustrated." After I got off the phone Ava said, "momma, you don't want daddy to get fridgrated?"

On Sunday night we were driving home. It was quiet and Ava broke the silence with, "I saw Claire tonight." The way she said it was like she was out for coffee making conversation.

The picture below is of a Charlie brown set that was at hallmark when I was in high school. I don't know what made me want it but I did and I have had it ever since. Linus is somewhere in our house right now. The tree with Woodstock is MIA. Lucy's candy cane hook is in the ornament box waiting for a glue on. All that to say...Ava loves these. She takes them all around the house. Apparently this morning Charlie Brown had to go to the bathroom. Mike and I were downstairs and we heard a scream and then crying. We ran upstairs thinking she was in major pain somehow...She was standing over the toilet looking in and crying, "I dropped Charlie in...Charlie Brown fell in the toilet. He was just going potty!" all in tears. Mike and I tried not to laugh and Mike pulled him out. He told Ava to settle down and that he would be ok, we would just wash him off. She looked at Mike while he cleaned him and cried, "OH, PLEASE!!!" I was cracking up in the hall. What a drama queen!!!

On to the tree...here are pics from the hunt to putting ornaments on our tree this year. It has a pretty amazing trunk that made it really hard to get the tree straight. The joys of a real tree!

Ava's tree, dead, but she picked it

classic mike...this nice couple saw us looking at this dead tree with Ava. I could hear them talking and saying, "do you remember doing that." and "oh, that's so cute." The guy finally asks mike if we wanted our picture taken. We were there with four other adults who were going to take our picture by our actual tree but mike would never turn someone down. It just reminds me of Florida when the lady took our picture and asked if it was a good one...Mike said, "oh, yeah, perfect" and...well...

i love reading your and christina's blogs both b/c even though you cover some of the same things, your perspectives are different and it's really funny. hope you have a very merry christmas! maybe we'll run into you at the JD party.

I'm glad you enjoy it! =) My sister usually gives a lot of good detail. I usually think that no one will read it if I write too much and it will be pointless. maybe we will see you guys...Stella was such a doll at the halloween party. She is so stinkin' cute. You have a great Christmas too!

I love your posts, you make me laugh so hard!!! I showed my husband the picture of you guys in FL and he got quite a chuckle too. In fact, I was thinking of that picture before I scrolled down to see that you posted it again.

I am kind of glad that picture didn't quite turn out...whenever I double check on something Mike has done I can refer to it when he gets offended.

I just reworked my blog for the first time in like 2 years, and I think I set up the same type as you, except added more red. Oops. I didn't mean to copy you - but you know, imitation is the most serious form of flattery. That's what you can tell Ava when Liela's annoying her. :)

Nicole,
I had seen the florida pic already too. But again, it made me laugh so much. I loved your simple commentary on the experience. Ava is so cute in her vest. I'm glad you had such good pictures from your tree hunt.
